Water is my wine. The earth is my body.

Jana Rose

I am not ashamed.

Women are taught to give everything up.

As a child, I was abused and abandoned.

As a teenager, no one saw me.

When I became a woman, marriage didn’t suit me.

I offer you my body, my wounds, my story, so that you too may heal.

I do not want to die.

Many women in this world, however, secretly long to.

They struggle with depression and anxiety, and they don’t know why.

They pass it onto their daughters, and they pass it onto their sons.

They say to everyone, unconsciously, I am not important. My life is made just for you. Here, take it. Eat of it. Drink of it. For I am not my own.

But that is wrong. That is wrong. That is wrong. That is wrong. That is wrong. That is wrong. That is wrong.

That is wrong.

What is it going to take for women to trust themselves again, for men to trust women?

What is it going to take to get ourselves back on track, to restore the earth?

Maybe it takes only one.

Maybe it takes one woman to say, No.

Maybe it takes one woman to say, I have had enough.

Maybe just one kind and generous and gentle woman says, I am going to do something different, and I am going to do it for you.

I am going to do it for all mothers.

I am going to do it for all children.

I am going to do it for all men.

I am going to die to the life I have made, the life that was chosen for me, and I am going to rise up.

I am going to make history.

I am going to show women what we are made of, and how we can heal centuries of trauma, and how we can begin to make our lives our own.

Clean slate. Open heart. New mind.

New Word.
